TCS Q2 Results: Net Profit Rises 15% to ₹13,884 Crore, AI Revenue Crosses $3.1 Billion

7 November 2026 | Curated by Gurdeep Singh, Amritsar, Punjab

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported higher revenue and profit for the July–September quarter of FY2026–27, while its constant-currency growth remained modest. The results underline a changing business mix: enterprise demand for artificial intelligence (AI) is expanding, but traditional technology spending remains selective.

For Q2 FY27, TCS reported consolidated revenue of ₹73,188 crore, up 11.2% year-on-year. Net profit rose 14.9% to ₹13,884 crore. The company also reported annualised AI revenue of $3.1 billion, total contract value (TCV) of $9.6 billion and an operating margin of 24%.

Revenue rises, but constant-currency growth is restrained

Reported revenue increased from ₹65,799 crore in the year-ago quarter to ₹73,188 crore. In US-dollar terms, revenue was $7.642 billion, up 2.4% year-on-year and 0.2% sequentially. Constant-currency revenue grew just 0.5% quarter-on-quarter.

Constant-currency growth strips out the effect of exchange-rate movements and helps compare underlying business momentum. The modest sequential increase suggests that clients remain careful about approving discretionary technology programmes, even as demand for AI-related work improves.

Net profit increases 14.9%

TCS reported net profit of ₹13,884 crore, compared with ₹12,075 crore in Q2 FY26. Net profit margin stood at 19%, while operating margin was 24%, broadly stable from the preceding quarter.

Cash generation remained a strength. Net cash from operations was approximately $1.48 billion, equivalent to 102.2% of net income. Strong cash conversion gives the company flexibility to invest in capabilities, pursue strategic opportunities and return capital to shareholders.

Annualised AI revenue crosses $3.1 billion

One of the quarter’s most important developments was the rise in annualised AI revenue to $3.1 billion, crossing 10% of TCS revenue. The figure was up from $2.6 billion in the previous quarter, according to the company.

The opportunity spans AI-led enterprise transformation, autonomous business services, software modernisation, data platforms and cybersecurity. The challenge is to convert AI adoption into measurable business outcomes while managing pricing pressure as automation changes the economics of traditional services.

Deal wins reach $9.6 billion

TCS reported new deal total contract value of $9.6 billion for the quarter. Major announcements included a five-year strategic partnership with Porsche AG, focused on an AI Mobility Centre of Excellence, and an agreement to transition Best Buy’s India-based Global Capability Centre to TCS for transformation into an AI Capability Centre.

The Porsche arrangement also includes a proposed acquisition of MHP, Porsche’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary. The acquisition remains subject to regulatory and other approvals. These strategic announcements can strengthen TCS’s industry presence, but booked contract value and proposed transactions should not be treated as revenue already earned or completed acquisitions.

Which business segments grew?

On a sequential constant-currency basis, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) grew 2.5%, Manufacturing increased 3.1%, and Technology and Services also grew 3.1%. Consumer Business declined 0.7%, while Energy, Resources and Utilities slipped 0.5%.

Geographically, the United Kingdom grew 3.5% sequentially in constant currency and North America increased 0.4%. The India market declined 10.3% sequentially, although it remained 6% higher year-on-year. The regional mix shows why the headline growth rate needs to be read alongside individual markets and client industries.

Workforce and dividend details

TCS reported a workforce of 598,056 employees at the end of September 2026. IT Services attrition over the last twelve months stood at 13.3%. The company said learning hours rose 17% sequentially to 17.1 million as it continued investing in employee skills.

The board declared a second interim dividend of ₹12 per equity share for FY27. The record date was 14 October 2026 and the payment date was 30 October 2026, so these dates have already passed.

What should investors watch next?

  • Constant-currency growth: Whether sequential growth improves beyond the current 0.5% level.
  • AI monetisation: Whether the $3.1 billion annualised revenue base translates into durable margins and repeat business.
  • Deal conversion: How quickly the $9.6 billion TCV moves into project execution and reported revenue.
  • Operating margins: Whether TCS can balance investment in AI and talent with its profitability objectives.
  • Client spending: Whether discretionary projects recover across North America, Europe and key industry verticals.

The bigger picture

TCS delivered year-on-year growth in revenue and profit, strong cash conversion and a substantial AI revenue run rate. Yet the 0.5% sequential constant-currency increase shows that a broad-based acceleration in traditional technology spending has not been established.

The next phase will depend on how effectively TCS turns AI demand and large strategic deals into recurring revenue, while preserving margins and execution quality. For India’s IT industry, the results capture both sides of the transition: AI is opening new markets, but it is also reshaping the economics of established services.
