North Western Railway (NWR), through Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) Jaipur, is accepting online applications for 2,008 Act Apprentice training slots for 2026–27 under Notice No. 04/2026 (NWR/AA). The revised detailed notification is dated 21 October 2026, and applications opened on 23 October.

Units and trades

The 2,008 slots are distributed across North Western Railway divisions and workshops, including Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Jodhpur, as well as designated carriage and locomotive workshops. Trades include Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Diesel Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Stenographer, Painter, Plumber and other notified trades.

Candidates must select only one division/unit after checking the trade-wise training slots in the revised notification. The RRC will prepare merit lists unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise; there will be no single centralised merit list.

Educational qualification

Applicants must have:

Passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination under the 10+2 system with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board. The notification says rounding off is not allowed.
A National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).

Age limit and relaxation

The candidate must have completed 15 years and must not have completed 24 years of age on 22 November 2026. The revised notification provides upper-age relaxation of five years for SC/ST candidates, three years for OBC candidates and ten years for PwBD candidates. Ex-servicemen and other eligible categories should check the detailed conditions in the official notification.

Selection process

There is no written examination or interview prescribed in the notification. The merit score is based on the simple average of the percentage of marks in Class 10 and the ITI examination in the relevant trade. Merit lists will be prepared separately by division/unit, trade and community. In the event of a tie, the older candidate is preferred; if dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier is considered first.

Fee payment is online through the application process. Candidates should save the e-receipt and completed application after successful submission.

Training, stipend and employment status

The training period and stipend will be governed by the applicable Railway Board rules and directions. The notification states that hostel accommodation will not be provided. Completion of apprenticeship training does not create a right to absorption or regular employment in the Railways.
