Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie are reuniting for Dogfight, a new Netflix action thriller set in London’s criminal underworld. Statham will star and produce, while Ritchie is writing, directing and producing the film. Netflix announced the project on November 3 and described it as a revenge action story, though the full plot remains under wraps.
The announcement brings the pair back to the crime-film territory that helped launch their collaboration. Production is scheduled to begin in the United Kingdom in early 2027. Netflix has not announced a release date or additional cast members, so the project’s timeline beyond filming has yet to be confirmed.
A return to London’s criminal underworld
Dogfight is described as a stylish revenge action film set in London. Netflix has not shared the central character’s identity, the source of the revenge plot or the story’s principal conflict. At this stage, the setting and genre are the only public clues to the film’s narrative.
That setting recalls the world of Ritchie’s early films, including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, which also featured Statham. Their later collaborations include Revolver, Wrath of Man and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre. The upcoming Viva La Madness is also part of their shared slate. Screen Daily describes Dogfight as the pair’s seventh collaboration.
Statham and Ritchie take on several roles
Ritchie will write, direct and produce the film. Statham is set to star and produce through Punch Palace. The other named producers are Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg. Netflix lists Black Bear, Ritchie’s Toff Guy Films and Statham’s Punch Palace among the project’s production partners.
The project extends both filmmakers’ work with crime and action stories while giving the collaboration a streaming-first home. Dogfight is not the first time the pair have worked together for an action-focused film, but it is their newest shared project after titles that have moved between crime capers, revenge stories and spy comedy.
UK production is set for early 2027
Filming is planned to start in the UK in early 2027. Netflix has not yet disclosed the production schedule, supporting cast, filming locations or a release window. Those details are likely to clarify as the project moves toward production.
For now, the confirmed elements are the reunion, Ritchie’s writing and directing role, Statham’s starring role, the London setting and the early-2027 UK production start. The next major update will likely be the film’s additional casting or a more specific outline of its revenge plot.
