ED Raids AAP MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora’s Premises in Moga: What We Know About the Investigation

Curated by KS Randhawa, Ludhiana Punjab

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, conducted searches at seven premises in Punjab linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Moga MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora, her husband, family members and associates. The searches are part of a money-laundering investigation connected to alleged irregularities involving government land and compensation in Moga district.

What happened during the ED searches?

According to officials cited in media reports, ED teams searched locations associated with Arora and her family, including a de-addiction hospital linked to her husband, Dr Rakesh Arora. The operation covered seven premises across Punjab and was aimed at collecting evidence and tracing the alleged money trail.

The searches took place in Moga, where Arora represents the constituency in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. She is also the president of the AAP Punjab women’s wing.

What is the investigation about?

The ED case stems from a Punjab Police FIR registered on 16 June 2024. The underlying case concerns alleged fraudulent mutation of government land acquired for National Highway 754A and the alleged wrongful disbursement of compensation in Moga district.

The ED has registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and is investigating the financial trail connected with the allegations. The agency’s searches are an investigative step; they do not by themselves establish that any person whose premises were searched has committed an offence.

Important distinction about the MLA’s status

Hindustan Times reported that Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora was not named as an accused in the original Punjab Police FIR. The ED’s searches include premises associated with her and members of her family, but the legal status of each person must be understood separately and should not be inferred merely from the fact that a search took place.

AAP workers protest; political questions emerge

After the searches began, AAP workers gathered outside the MLA’s premises in Moga and raised slogans against the BJP-led central government. Party workers alleged that central investigative agencies were being used for political pressure ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections. These are political allegations made by AAP supporters, not findings established by the investigation.

The timing has added to the political attention around the case. AAP has re-nominated Arora from Moga in its first list of candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly election. The searches therefore come as political parties begin preparing for the next state election.

What happens next?

The immediate focus will be on what material the ED says it has recovered, whether further questioning or legal action follows, and whether the agency issues additional details about the investigation. Any claims of wrongdoing will need to be tested through the legal process, and the people concerned retain the right to respond to the allegations.

The case also raises a wider political question about the use of central investigative agencies during election periods. Such questions deserve scrutiny, but the facts of the investigation and the political claims surrounding it should be assessed separately.
