Editorial on Varanasi Rape Case.

It was a normal day and I got on my laptop to check out the daily news when a news update shivered me to my soul. A horrific case from Varanasi has deeply disturbed the nation, leaving many shaken and demanding justice.

Let’s get some overview of this:

A deeply disturbing case emerged from Varanasi, where a 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by 23 men over a period of six days at various hotels and cafes across the city. The young woman was reportedly drugged, manipulated, and repeatedly sexually assaulted by multiple men during this time.

Sequence of Assaults-
March 31: The victim was allegedly taken by Ayush and five others—Sohail, Danish, Anmol, Sajid, and Zahir—to a café in Sigra. There, they allegedly made her consume a spiked drink and raped her.
April 1: Sajid and one of his associates allegedly took her to a hotel where she was raped again.
April 2 onward: Another accused, Imran, allegedly drugged her again and raped her at a different hotel.
The pattern of assault continued, with multiple individuals involved at different locations. Over the course of six days, the victim claims to have been assaulted by at least 23 men.

The Prime minister Narendra Modi Ji has demanded the strictest actions against this inhumane act and put his best efforts in helping the victim seek justice.

The case sparked outrage on social media and among the public, with demands for strict actions against those monsters (can’t call them humans though).

And this is just one case, what about those happening on streets in broad daylight? My question is, what would you, as a person achieve by worshiping the Goddess and not saving a woman being assaulted at the same time? What would you really expect after that great deed of yours? A blessing? Nah! Not at all!

Well I remember I once came across a line that stuck with me, “If you are saying too many things for women safety and empowerment and following absolutely none then it is better you don’t say any.”

Why can’t it be like the 2019 Hyderabad Rape & Murder case, where a woman was raped and her body was burnt afterwards. From chasing the CCTV cameras to tracking the victim’s phone, Police force added its best efforts to provide justice to the girl, and at last those 4 culprits were killed in an encounter.

As a matter of fact, no matter how many culprits we arrest, the problem remains the same. As long as we try to justify their acts, cover up for them, nothing would change.

Remember, change cannot come unless we bring it.
