Satellite imagery analyzed on April 2, 2025, reveals the presence of at least six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers at Camp Thunder Cove on Diego Garcia, a strategic U.S. base in the Indian Ocean. This deployment represents nearly a third of the U.S. Air Force’s fleet of nuclear-capable B-2 bombers, underscoring a significant augmentation of military assets within striking range of both Iran and Yemen.

Concurrently, suspected U.S. airstrikes have intensified in Yemen, targeting areas under Houthi rebel control. The Houthi-affiliated al-Masirah satellite news channel reported airstrikes near the capital, Sanaa, and the stronghold of Saada, though specific details on casualties or damage remain unconfirmed.
The U.S. administration has linked these military actions to broader efforts aimed at countering Iran’s influence in the region, particularly concerning its nuclear program. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that over 200 strikes were conducted on Tuesday alone, emphasizing the objective to degrade Houthi capabilities and restore freedom of navigation in the region.
The strategic positioning of B-2 bombers in Diego Garcia, coupled with the ongoing airstrike campaign in Yemen, reflects escalating tensions and a concerted effort by the U.S. to address perceived threats from Iran and its regional proxies.
