Om Tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam
Urvārukam iva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya mā amṛtāt

  • Tryambakam: Refers to the three-eyed one, Lord Shiva, who bestows wisdom and knowledge.
  • Yajāmahe: We meditate upon.
  • Sugandhiṃ: Fragrant or possessing a wonderful scent, symbolizing positivity and well-being.
  • Puṣṭivardhanam: May it increase our health and sustenance.
  • Urvārukam: Like the cucumber, which is detached from its vine.
  • Iva: Like.
  • Bandhanān: From bondage (of mortality).
  • Mṛtyor: From death.
  • Mukṣīya: May we attain liberation.
  • Mā Amṛtāt: Not from immortality.
